Adobe announced the new Adobe Elements 2025 Family release this week. The two products, Adobe Photoshop Elements 2025 and Adobe Premiere Elements 2025, come with “AI magic” and several other improvements, according to Adobe.
Beginner-friendly products differ in functionality and licensing compared to Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere.
Adobe announced licensing changes for the Elements 2025 application family of products. Each product costs $99.99 on its own, but Adobe is offering a $50 discount to customers who purchase both.

so far so good. The problem is that the license is valid for three years. According to Adobe it is not renewable and the purchased product will automatically expire after three years. Adobe They say Except for Organizer, customers will no longer be able to access the application.
Here's Adobe's answer to “How does a 3-year term license work?”: “The license is for a full 3-year term, with no monthly or annual recurring subscription fees required. The license is non-renewable – it expires 3 years after redemption, at which time there will be no access to the editor, but The organizer will continue to be accessible indefinitely”.
The only way out is to purchase a new version of the Adobe Elements product or subscribe to one of Adobe's other products that provide access to the related files and tools.
In other words: Elements 2025 is sold with a kill switch. It looks like some kind of shareware license. These only support a specific version of a product. When a new major version is released, you will need to purchase a new license to upgrade your existing copy.
The main difference in Elements 2025 is that purchased copies usually do not stop working completely.
short trial period
Adobe has reduced the trial period from 30 days to 7 days. Customers can purchase a license directly from the trial software. Adobe did not mention why it shortened the trial period.
concluding words
Are Adobe Elements 2025 products sold as subscriptions with very long usage periods? Subscribers pay $99.99 for three years. If they wish to continue using the Elements product, they will need to purchase another license. The upgrade to Adobe Elements 2025 is slightly cheaper at $79.99, but that's the only difference.
The kill-switch is different from how the majority, or all (?) software companies handle it. If you buy a product, you expect it to work indefinitely. Upgrades may incur additional costs, which is fine for many users, as it ensures that the developer or company remains in business.
Nevertheless, the general consensus is that you can still run a purchased product even if it is no longer supported by the developer.
