Deepsek, the Chinese AI company, which has recently reached the top of the Apple App Store Chart in the US, has been removed from the Apple and Google App Store in Italy amidst the confidentiality concerns and the ongoing GDPR investigation. The Italian Data Protection Authority, Garent, App is checking data collection practices, especially user data is being stored in China.
Garandte Chairman Paskel Stanzionon confirmed that Deepsek has 20 days to inquire about the types of data, its source, and how the information is stored. If the company fails to comply with, further action can be followed on the basis of GDPR rules.
Italy is not only the only country to investigate the confidentiality policies of Deepsak. The Irish Data Protection Commission has also requested how the company processes user data from Irish citizens. Meanwhile, the US government is looking at the allegations that Deepsek may have used ownership data of American companies to train its AI model.
