Google has introduced a new feature in Gmail that takes advantage of its Gemini AI to streamline the event scheduling. This integration allows users to connect direct events in their Google calendar from within the email, increase productivity and simplify the workflow.
Gemini-Interested ‘Add’ Calendar ‘button
The latest updates include an “Ad to Calendar” button in the email that identifies as information related to the Gemini event. Located below the theme line of email, this button enables users to create calendar entries with one click. In case of activation, the Gemini sidebar opens to confirm the details of the event, providing the option to edit the information if necessary. This feature is currently rolling out for an AI premium customers with Google workspace business, enterprise and education users.
AI integration in Gmail enhances integration
This development is part of Google’s comprehensive strategy to integrate AI capabilities in its field applications. By embedding Gemini in Gmail, users can now interact with AI to manage their schedule more efficiently. For example, Gemini may explain the signs of natural language, such as determining the time of a 30 -minute yoga class at 9 am every Monday and Wednesday. This functionality reduces the requirement of manual entry and reduces the risk of errors.
Graduate rollouts and availability
Google has started a phased rollout of this feature, it is expected to be completed by December 6, 2024. Initially, it is available on web interfaces for English-language users. People with eligible accounts should look at the new “ad to calendar” button in the coming emails in the coming weeks.
