Not an additional mouse? You can use your phone as a wireless mouse to work on your computer.
Long story short, my mouse died recently. It is a razor wiper mini, the button works, so the scroll wheel is, but the cursor will not move forward. I finished it and cleaned it, but I think the sensor is a bit. So, when I was waiting for a new mouse to arrive, I decided to use my iPhone as a mouse.
Perhaps there are other software that can do so, but I like to use KDE Connect, as I already use it to manage the media of my phone. The KDE is connected free, an account is not required to use open sources. It works using your local Wi-Fi.
I am using Linux Mint and an iPhone, but the process is the same on Windows and Android. I only tested Windows/Android, but it worked well. Disappointing, it did not work on Macos 26.
How to use your phone as a wireless mouse
1. Download Kde Connect On your desktop (Windows, McOS and Linux).
2. Download kde connect to yourself Android Mobile device or iPhone.
3. Add your equipment using the app.
4. Connect your phone’s KDE, tap in the name of a computer.
5. Select the remote input.
This is, you can use the screen of your phone like a touchpad and use it as the mouse of your computer. Tap and grab your finger on the screen to move the mouse around. Tap to the left side of the scroll wheel, to the left-click, or to right-click on the right. The scroll wheel can be drawn up and down, just as you scroll on your phone. It can be annoying since pulling the scroll downwards, and draws the scroll downwards. There is a slight input interval, so look out for it.
Tap the three-dot menu button to see additional commands such as sensitivity slider, haptix-style selector, etc. You should know that since the screen of your phone will wake up, while you use it for remote input, your battery is being drained very quickly.
This is not the most convenient thing, but it is better than nothing when you do not have a mouse, but want to work with some. I will not recommend it for gaming, but it should work fine for browsing and basic use.
