One of the largest data leaks in recent history has highlighted 1.5 billion records, affecting major Chinese platforms, financial institutions and even government -related institutions. The unsafe dataset discovered by cyberrenus researchers includes sensitive details including full name, government ID number, phone number, financial records and healthcare data.
The leaked records originate from several high-profile sources, including Weibo, China’s largest social media platform and the country’s top ride—hiling service Didi. Other affected institutions include major banks, telecom providers, courier services and even the Shanghai Communist Party.
Researchers believe that this dataset is a compilation of both known and pre -undeclared violations, collected on an elastics search server. The sheer volume and variety of data suggests malicious intentions, as such large -scale leaked identity theft, targeted fishing attacks and fuel can fuel.
The most dangerous aspects of leakage have highly sensitive financial and health care data presence. Dataset includes 504 million records tied to Vibo, 25 million from SF Express (China’s largest courier service), and more than 142 million from JD.com, a major e-commerce platform, which did not have a pre-known violation.
In addition to individual and corporate data, dataset has politically sensitive records. A collection with “The Communist Party of Shanghai” labeled includes 1.6 million records, while other “friendly nations” and “data of many neighboring countries” indicate the possible geo -political implications titled.
Although the exposed server was eventually taken offline after several alerts for China’s certified, the scale of this violation highlights the constant risks of data aggregation. As cyber security experts analyze the effect, the event can rank in the biggest known data leaks in history, which is only the second for the notorious Shanghai National Police violation.
