Following a delay of one year, Meta has started the rollout of its AI Assistant, Meta AI across Europe. From this week, users in 41 European countries and 21 foreign sectors can use Meta AI on WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and Messenger. However, the European version currently provides limited functionality, focusing only on text-based chat features.
Meta AI was first introduced in the United States in 2023, which aims to provide users with a wise interactive accessory, which is able to brainstorm, chore up, plan trips and answer questions using real -time web information. The initial rollout displayed the Meta’s ambition to integrate advanced AI abilities in its suit of social media platforms.
European launch faced significant delays due to regulator concerns. In 2024, Ireland’s Data Protection Commission (DPC), where the European headquarters of Meta is located, requested the company to suspend the use of European user data in training its AI model. This step was inspired by the apprehensions about data privacy and possible misuse of user-related materials. As a result, Meta stopped the rollout of its multimodal Lama AI model in the European Union in the European Union, cited the unexpected nature of the European regulatory environment. The company emphasized that without local information, the performance of AI would be compromised, which would give a user experience on a sub -user.
