Microsoft brings formatting options for Notepad | Free Download

Microsoft is rolling out the formatting options in the notepad for all Windows users. These features were introduced in the Windows Insider program a month ago.

Notepad has existed since 1983, but has so far remains a simple text editor. Over the years, it has achieved some modern features like tabs, auto-saves, spell checks. Microsoft also hoisted it with unwanted features such as Copilot Rewrite, Abbreviation and Writing, but you can disable these AI-operated features with app settings.

The new formatting options in the notepad include bold, and Italic styles. Notepad also supports Markdown Syntax for hyperlinks, lists and titles. Options are available through a new toolbar on top of the window and through the editing menu. Microsoft says that users can fully disable the formatting from the settings of the notepad, if you want to continue to use it as plain text editor.

Windows Central Report is that forming options appear to be available to non-irresponsible people. According to the origin of Microsoft Announcement, The features were added to the notepad 11.2504.52.0. The current version of the notepad for the stable channel of Windows 11 is 11.2504.62.0. I updated it to Microsoft Store a few days ago, but do not have access to new formatting features. The RG -DGEARD tool reports that it is the latest version of the notepad available for the retail channel, yet the features are unavailable. Therefore, it is safe to assume that new features are being gently rolled for users.

Microsoft has made some unusual decisions regarding text editors, it killed WordPad with the release of Windows 11 24H2, although the heritage is a way to restore the RTF editor you really want. The Redmond Company surprised everyone when it released the edit, which was an open source command-line text editor for Windows, and even released for Linux.

Have you tried new formatting options in the notepad? Do you like them?
