Microsoft has admitted that January 2025 Windows Safety Updates are causing audio playback problems on some systems equipped with external DACS (Digital-to-Analog Converters). Widely home setup, these devices used in professional music studios and portable audio players are required to increase sound quality and convert digital signals into analog for playback.
The problem affects Windows 24h2 (KB5050009), Windows 10 22H2 (KB5049981), Windows Server 2019 (KB5050008), and Windows Server 2016 (KB50499993) system when DACS UsB 1.0 depends on audio drivers. Users facing this problem can withstand an error message in the device manager, “This device cannot be started. (Code 10) Inadequate system resources exist to complete APIs.”
Microsoft has not yet clarified the root cause of these problems or has added the problem to the Windows release health dashboard. However, the company has advised the affected users to avoid DACS and bypass the problem by connecting their audio equipment directly to the PC. Currently a fix is being developed, and more details will be provided as they are available.
In a related issue, Microsoft is also examining a unique unique for Windows 24H2 system, where the creative sound Blasterx G6 is unphetful when using the Blasterx G6 USB DACS increases in an unexpectedly full quantity. Additionally, earlier this month, the company removed the Windows 11 upgrade block related to the killer’s creed compatibility and resolved a bug that prevented the Windows Server 2022 system from starting with several NUMA nodes.
