NordVPN has introduced a new protocol, Nordavisper, claiming that it can help users to bypass VPN blocks in areas with restrictions. The company says that Nordavisper works by mimicking regular internet traffic, making it more difficult to detect and block VPN uses for websites and internet service providers (ISPs).
VPN is widely used for privacy protection, to reach geo-captivated materials and to sideline government sensorship. However, many governments and platforms have developed ways to detect and block VPN traffic by identifying patterns associated with VPN server. NordVPN’s new protocol tried to combat these blocks by disguising VPN traffic as a normal browsing activity.
While the company claims that Nordaviceper can improve access to restricted areas, it admits that technology cannot work perfectly in all cases. Additionally, the protocol may introduce high delay due to additional steps involved in traffic. Nordavisper is currently rolling out for Windows, Linux and Android users, with support for other platforms required in future.
Some countries have intensified their efforts to block the use of VPN, even pressurizing companies like Apple to remove the VPN apps from their app store. A nation has allegedly used its internet infrastructure from the global web. While VPN continues to work in these areas, their long -term access remains uncertain.
Despite the new technology of NordVPN, privacy advocates that VPN users should be cautious. Since all internet traffic is rooted through a third-party service, there is always a risk of data exposure through government requests or security weaknesses.
As Nordvpn extends Nordvisper on more platforms, it remains to be seen how effective this new approach will be in combating rapidly sophisticated VPN detection methods.
