Windows 10 remains a popular operating system for gaming. While Windows 11 has beaten Windows 10 as the most popular option on steam some time ago, millions of gamers continue to play their games on Windows 10.
The only official option to support the official support in October 2025, and the only official option to support a year’s extension, Windows 10 may be concerned about constant support from software companies and hardware manufacturers. Will the driver, browser, text editor and other programs be supported after the support ends?
If you look at the previous disintegration of Windows Systems, you can see that the support is quite chaotic. Some companies stopped supporting the operating system, the moment Microsoft ended support. Others expanded one or two years of support, while some continue to support the old system on this day.
Nvidia is a major force in the gaming community. It produces the most popular video card for gamers and has revealed its plans for Windows 10.
The company plans to support Windows 10 with game ready drivers by October 2026. It corresponds to the end of the extended support that is presenting customers involved in the Microsoft ESU program.
Nvidia writes: “In addition, we are expanding the Windows 10 game ready driver support for all GeForce RTX GPUS, which until October 2026, is beyond one year beyond the end-off-life of the operating system, to ensure that users continue to get the latest day-0 adaptation for new games and apps.”
Here it means: NVIDIA will continue to release the driver update for Windows 10 by October 2026. This means that drivers will include new games as well as adaptation for safety improvement and other changes.
The graphics cards will continue to work even after October 2026, but Nvidia will no longer release the game ready drivers. It is still possible that NVIDIA will issue significant security updates, but no new features are expected in the ongoing drivers.
Closing word
October 2026 It seems that it can become a cut-off month nominated for software and driver updates. While some companies will continue to support Windows 10 devices with updates after October 2026, many will end the support in that month.
Now you: Do you still run Windows 10 on your equipment? Are you planning to use the device after the Microsoft support ends for this? Feel free to leave a comment below.
